A few months ago I had the pleasure of visiting Heidi for 7 fabulous days. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Michaels with her and standing in front of the many collections she has in store, in particular her newest at that time, the exclusive Gallery Wall collection. So when my assignment this month to use the gallery wall collection on a layout came up I couldn't think of a better memory to record.
You can see I used several pieces in the collection to create my layout including that gorgeous floral art screen and hot pink art screen ink which is the hero of my layout.
I laid the art screen down on the edge of my piece of white Bazzill cardstock, masked off the area with some washi tape and scraped the art screen ink onto my cardstock. Once dry I layered over my title in this case some of the Color Magic jumbo numbers which instead of using Color Shine on added some glue at the bottom and sprinkled on some of the Marquee Love Silver glitter also in the collection. I adhered that fun glitter word for an extra pop of fun.
The floral design adds such a beautiful feminine pattern to my cardstock. I like to think I created my own pattern paper. I then added a strip of the silver spot 2 inch washi tape, which was designed for the 12 inch Marquee letters but I thought it would create a beautiful accent on my layout.
I then grabbed some of the Muslin fabric banners from the collection and spritzed them with my favorite color of Color Shine the Butter. I only sprayed the bottom section of the banner to give a bit of interest to the banner. I then used double sided tape to attach to my layout.
I wanted an extra pink element on my layout so I used one of the large Color Magic banners and hand drew a butterfly and then trimmed it with my scissors. I then spritzed it with the Hot Pink Color Shine from the collection and wiped of the excess to reveal the white spots that had resisted the Color Shine.
I layered a hand cut vellum butterfly underneath , stapled them together and added some dimension by bending up the wings.
To complete my layout I added some hand stitching to represent the butterfly trail. It took a bit of time but I think it was totally worth it , it adds such a beautiful touch of tone on tone texture to my layout.
I encourage you to drop by the Gallery Wall and Mixed Media collection at your local Michaels store, it's not just for home decor, it is so versatile it can be used on your next scrapbook layout too!
