This year I am trying something new! Its something I have always intended to have a go at but never been disciplined enough to go through with it! Its my word of the year!
My word for 2016 is CALM! Last year starting back at work after 8 years leave, coupled with my family and home life was very chaotic with all of us trying to find our new normal . It was a big learning curve for everyone in my family.
This year I wanted to start with the intention of being calm. Slowing down a little, taking deep breathes and taking one day at a time.
What better way to remind me but with my word up in lights so I transformed the Heidi Swapp Marquee letters and the new Marquee Love Spring collection into a constant source of inspiration.
I have my word set up on the top shelf in my studio, where I go to each day to Scrap and Craft and to work on my school work and planning! I love that as I sit at my desk I can look up and instantly have that word as a reminder.
Under my word I arranged a string of the Heidi Swapp lights that I added the brand new Spring Marquee Paper Flowers and pink and mint Facated bulbs to. It adds such a soft lovely feminine feel to my display.
I covered the inside of each letter with pattern paper from the new 8x8 paper pad that comes in the collection. The mix of floral , stripes, spots and checks makes it easy to mix and match.
I think this pattern paper sheet in the M might be my favourite, I love the mix of pink and yellow floral the perfect combination.
Around the edge of each letter I added some of the brand new 2 inch Washi tapes from the collection as well. The teal glitter, Yellow and white stripe and Green floral!
The M is covered in the prettiest pink checked washi!
At night I can spend a little reflection time just before bed, with the room lights turned off and my Marquee lights turned on. It will allow me to take in the days events, think of them calmly and then head to bed.
It really is a special area in my room and as I sit here at my desk staring up at the top shelf a wave of calm really is washing over me!
Thanks for dropping by!
This is beautiful kim, I love the floral paper you have used.. And I love the string of flowers too.. I hope this year is a better one for you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Love the way you've fussied those letters off & I hope this year is a little slower & more 'in control' now you've settled back into the work routine. Good luck with your teaching this year!!!
