Disneyland + Memory Dex

Some times when I am given an assignment by Heidi Swapp to share here on the blog I ponder over ideas for a while before starting to create. For this Memory Dex I had a few ideas in mind but then I had a light bulb moment and thought why not use some DIY die cut elements in my Memory Dex to create custom cards!! The next thing I knew I had my Silhouette cameo out, I was googling Mouse and Castle shapes and I was cutting! The fun outcome which I share below is now my new favorite project!

I just adore that I have created a complete project that shares the highlights of my family's  recent trip to Disneyland.

I love the bright pops of color and layers  peaking through that perfectly represents Disneyland don't you think!

Let me share with you a peak through my Memory Dex. I used the Memory Dex tray to hold all my cards, tickets and memorabilia. I am sharing some of my favorite cards inside my tray first.

Here I used one of the Gold Foiled cards and a circle punch.

I used the Memory Dex punch to punch holes in the photo.

I used Butter Colorshine and a polka dot stencil to create a pattern on my Mickey Mouse ears.

Stamping using the Memory Planner collection Clear stamps adds an easy and quick embellishment.

Here I used a piece of a Memory Dex card that I trimmed from the top of a card as am embellishment tucked under the photo.

Cards and memorabilia straight into my tray.

Let me share a little about how I created my die cut cards. I googled mouse and castles, imported them into my Silhouette Cameo machine and cut them out onto some white cardstock. I then used a variety of stencils and Color Shine colors to add some color to the die cut shapes.

Once dry I  trimmed a small section from the bottom of the shape and used the Memory Dex punch to punch the holes and I had created my own custom Memory Dex card!

For my opening card I simple added some stamping using the Memory Planner Clear stamps and added the kraft die cut also from the Memory planner collection, clipping it on with the gorgeous clip from Magnolia Jane.

Circle punched photos and washi tape from Magnolia Jane make quick and easy cards.

A photo and sticky label is all that is needed sometimes to tell a story.

I used my We Are Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter to add strip journaling to some of my cards.

Gold glitter paper and a star punch create fun embellishments.

I rolled my card into my Typecast typewriter to add journaling.

Splashes of Gold Color Shine add interest without the bulk.

More circular photos trimmed to fit the card.

No trip to Disneyland with boys is complete with a photo op with the man in Black!

Again, I used my Typecast typewriter, splashes of Color Shine and punched stars for a cohesive look to my cards.

Stencils and  Mint Color Shine create a bold statement against the black and white stripes of cards from the Selfie Kit and the Water Color cards allow for custom color  creations.

For my blue Mickey card I first sprayed with a small dot stencil with Navy Color Shine then once dry resprayed  with the Navy again the entire shape  for a tone on tone effect.

The accompanying  journaling card was created used one of the die cut shapes and some washi tape to make an interactive element!

More washi!

Typed journaling and Glitter hearts!

The Circular stencil from the Minc collection created a fun textural representation on the die cut castle card.

On these cards I used the clear cards as overlays for the photos.

Here I want to showcase some of my favorite cards, it was so hard to narrow it down...which one would you choose!?

Thanks for joining me today.  Have I inspired you to get some of your favorite vacation photos printed and into a Memory Dex tray? I hope so, my boys spent all weekend flipping through it and talking about their favorite memories, if for only that very reason my intention to create the tray has been fulfilled!
