sweet friends...

Today I am sharing another of my projects I made for my submission to the American Craft DT call. I love this one, so even though I didn't make it , I'm glad I have this little mini of my boys and their best friends!

This layout was recently up on the Heidi Swapp blog. I was inspired by Heidi's online class Stencil Magic.

I used her 6x6 Polka Dot stencil and Mustard and Sweet Cherry ColorShine mist to create my photo mat.

I overlaid a Clear Pop Tag over my focal photo.

 Here I used a Greatest View Flair.

and to complete I  finished off with a Color Pop Banner Delight which I layered under my photos.

Jot Magazine- mood board!

Over at Jot Magazine there is a new mood board up ready for everyone to play along.

Create a paper project using the following mood board as inspiration. Use the colours, textures, patterns and pieces to inspire you. Somebody pinch me...

Do you know those times in your life when it is both so exciting and so overwhelming unbelievable that you need someone to pinch you !  Since joining Heidi's team its been a whirlwind of amazing opportunities and now the biggest one of all... Heidi is coming Down Under in November and I get to TEACH with her!!!!

I recently applied for the American Craft DT , I wasn't successful but I was  really happy with my projects I created so I am happy about that. Today I am sharing one of my layouts. This is my favourite layout I created and it uses  a new  favourite photo of my boys.

The graduation cap.

Recently on the Basic Grey blog I shared my fun version of a graduation cap made using Basic Grey papers! Who says graduation caps need to be black! I decided to create a graduation cap for my youngest son who is graduating from preschool later this year. I wanted to make it bright and colourful and fun to suit the preschool style.

 

I created a step x step as well!

 

1. Gather your supplies, three pieces of coordinating Pattern paper, paper trimmer, craft glue, a glue stick, scissors, twine or wool and a sheet of thick cardboard or chipboard.
2. Trim the first piece of pattern paper in half.
3. Use the glue stick to glue the two pieces of pattern paper together length ways.
4. Fold up (about an inch from the bottom edge) across the length of the pattern papers.
5. Using the scissors snip long the bottom edge up the fold (from step 4) about three inches apart.
6. Glue the pattern paper into a cylinder measuring it around your child’s head for size.
7. Cut the card to 91/2 x 91/2 inches, the second piece of pattern paper to 11 x 11 inches and the third 91/2 x 91/2 inches.
8.Glue the larger piece of pattern paper to one side of the cardstock, mitre the corners and fold over the edges and glue down. Then flip the card over and glue the third piece of pattern to the card.
9. Using your scissors or a push pin create a small hole in the very centre of the card.
10. Add glue to the snipped edges of the cylinder.
11. Glue to the top of the card to create your hat. I then add a tassel made from thick twine, threaded it through the hole , tied it off and let it hang over the side of the hat to complete.

Bella Blvd

Today I am sharing a sneak peak of the five new collections from Bella Blvd that will be debuting  at CHA Summer in a few weeks....talk about FUN right.

Game time

This week over on the Heidi Swapp blog we have are celebrating games week.  I decided to make a Super Hero pack for my boys to play with using three different Memory Files.
It all started with some favourite photos of my boys and their friends dressed up in their fav Super Hero costumes. I silhouetted the photo, laminated it and added it to the front of my Memory File. The black skyline is a vinyl wall decal that I got from Spotlight.

I cut the BAM! word with my cameo and spritzed the top of the skyline in Tinsel Color Shine.

The Memory File opens to reveal two reading games I created for my youngest to hone his sightword and letter/sound skills.

 

I created the skyline image as a base board , printed it off and laminated it for sturdiness and printed off and laminated the sightwords.  The skyline is available as a pdf file

on the Heidi Swapp blog.

 

The aim is to win a KABOOM! by reading the words correctly.

For my second game I used the same skyline image but added each letter of the alphabet, Next I printed off two pictures for each letter, laminated and cut them up and then placed them in the baggie for storage.

The aim of this game is for him to match each picture with the beginning sound. Again simple and fun….and the best part is -he doesn’t even know he is learning!

Turning the page again this is revealed. A memory game on the left and then on a second Vintage Chic file -the cover to a fun book.

I used a sandwich bag to store my game cards.

 

Here’s how I created my game. I printed off two of each photo from the Super Hero photo shoot, making sure I had three different poses for each of the four little heroes. I then laminated the photos to make them long lasting .

 

 

Of course the game is played by turning over two cards at a time, if they match the player keeps them.

 

 

 A second Memory file holds a fun flip book. The cover uses a portrait Skyline image that is available as a pdf to download.

On the inside I used the same skyline image four times. I added an enlarged photo of each cutie that I had trimmed around and glued onto the skyline, I was careful to adhere the image in the exact same position on each page. I then used my paper trimmer to slice down the centre of each page to create two halves that are able to flip back and forth.

My boys thought is was very very funny....

 

 

I even managed to catch them on camera!

 

 

My final part of my Super Hero pack is a Create a Scene game. I used yet another Memory file and covered the front in pattern paper and another of the skyline images.

 

On opening the memory file I used more of the vinyl wall decal and Tinsel Color Shine to make my backdrop.

I added in another set of Super Heroes....

Using my cameo I set about cutting from cardstock a number of shapes and objects that could be used in my scene. I also raided my boys lego sticker book for some further Super Hero characters good and bad and laminated all of these as well. The scene was now set to have some fun making up stories and role playing!

and again my boys LOVE IT!
